The Universal experiment is one of 12 experiments in the laboratory, available at laboratory tier 5.
The goal of the Universal Experiment is to increase the gravity of a Gravity Orb (particle).
Mechanic
The gravity grid has many components that interact with the orb, and can be altered, with costs increasing after each alteration. Recreating the board will reset the alteration cost while creating a new gravity grid.
Clicking LAUNCH starts the simulation. The particle starts to move along the grid from the bottom left corner (going right) guided by arrows and other components. When the orb moves outside of the grid, the simulation will stop Instantly.
Clicking RECREATE will generate a new random grid with only normal arrows, and gravitation fields.
Components
Click to select one of them, then click a component on the gravity board, which changes the it to the currently selected component, while keeping it's current direction. The components available are as follows:
- NORMAL: Sends the ball in the direction pointed. Can only be used once.
- GRAVUP: Increases gravity of the orb. Can be used multiple times.
- GRAVDOWN: Decreases gravity of the orb. Can be used multiple times.
- INFINITE (1): Sends the ball in the direction pointed. Stays forever. Only 1 of this can be on the grid at once.
- 3 TIMES: Sends the ball in the direction pointed. Lasts for 3 uses.
- ROTATING (3): Sends the ball in the direction pointed. Rotates clockwise after each use. Rotation needs to be manually readjusted before a simulation starts. Only 1 of this can be on the grid at once.
- REFRESH (1): Refreshes the use count of all components (except itself), allowing the ball to interact with them again (Rotating components' direction will not be reset). Only 1 of this can be on the grid at once. Unlocked after choosing this from prestige.
- REFLECT: Reflects the particle (the particle will bounce back on vertical and horizontal position, and will bounce to the left on diagonal position). Lasts for 2 uses. Unlocked after choosing this from prestige.
- 5 TIMES (4): Sends the ball in the direction pointed. Lasts for 5 uses. Only 4 of this can be on the grid at once. Unlocked after choosing this from prestige.
- INVERT: Inverts the ball's current gravity value (1G => -1G). Unlocked after choosing this from prestige.
- P-ARROW: Unlocked after choosing this from prestige.
- N-ARROW: Unlocked after choosing this from prestige.
Actions
Actions are used to modify the existing components
- Rotate: Rotated a component on the grid clockwise
- Rotate (CCW): Rotate a component on the grid counter-clockwise
Prestige
Prestige resets the gravity grid but keeps records.
- Improvement: Unlocks a black orb that inverts the current gravity value of the gravity orb whenever it passes over it.
- Improvement: Unlocks a component that reflects the gravity orb 90° clockwise if the entry point is a corner or 180° if it enters any other side. It can reflect up to two times before becoming inactive.
- Improvement: Unlocks a purple orb that refreshes the entire grid except itself when the gravity orb enters it.
- Improvement: Unlocks an arrow component that can be placed up to 4 times and redirects the gravity orb into the direction it points for up to 5 times before becoming inactive.
- Improvement: Unlocks two arrows (P-ARROW and N-ARROW) that only redirect the orb if the gravity value of it is either positive or negative, depending on the arrows color. Also increases or decreases the gravity value if the orb is being redirected.
- Improvement: Increases the effectiveness of red and blue gravity fields by 5% (mult.). (/45)
- Improvement: Increases the maximum jumps the gravity orb can perform by 10.
- Increases to unlimited jumps after reaching the maximum level of this improvement. (/10)
- Improvement: Reduces the cost of altering the gravity grid by 10%. (/40)
Tips
1. Make a grid consisting of a line of orbs at the bottom and an arrow pointing back to where you started.
2. Put your first prestige point into the orb in the left middle, then use it and prestige a ton.
3. Use a setup below.
Optimal solution
Best solution currently known is 550 Positive and Negative. Negative board requires near-max prestige, use old layout instead of short on prestiges. (you need at least #40)
